Historical Society Meeting
Description
Meetings will be held at 599 Oak Grove Rd., Frenchtown, unless specified otherwise.
The topic will be Kingwood in the 1950s and 1960s. The Hunterdon County Historical Society has a couple of old scrapbooks from Kingwood with more than 300 pages of newspaper articles. It was only a few years after WW II and Kingwood had lots going in. The Missing Link was being built (today's Daniel Bray Highway / Route 29), the Baby Boom was in full swing, and officials were grappling with what to do about the Point Pleasant/Byram bridge that was destroyed by the 1955 flood (see attached picture).
